General Questions
In general, the only port that is restricted is Port 25 for outbound SMTP. Other ports commonly used for DDoS attacks (either outbound or inbound) may be temporarily restricted depending on the upstream DDoS protection and its automated filtering.
If you have a need for Port 25 to be enabled on your service please create a support ticket in our portal and provide the following:
- Why Port 25 is needed
- What kind of e-mail and at what volume per day will be generated
- How recipents of the e-mail can opt-out
- Confirmation that you have tested and validated that your mail server does not “open relay”
Your request will then be reviewed by our support staff.
BitTorrent/Peer to Peer/File Sharing is allowed on the Prezcomm network for legal content only (e.g., Linux ISOs).
Copyright-infringing activity is strictly prohibited. We comply with the DMCA; repeat violations can lead to service suspension or termination.
Most of our services provide 1 IPv4 address. This address is routed directly to your hosted service (VPS, Dedicated or Colo) – all ports (other than what is described in the first FAQ question) including TCP/UDP protocol are permitted.
It is strongly recommended to use iptables or UFW (for Linux/Unix) or Windows Firewall (for Windows) to filter unwanted traffic or to help minimize security risks.
If additional IP addresses are needed, they can be added on to your service for an additional monthly fee via the customer portal.
Yes you can. By default your reverse DNS IP will be preconfigured with a standard entry:
For VPS service, the default is: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.vps.prezcomm.com
For Dedicated service, the default is: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.dedicated.prezcomm.com
For Colocation service, the default is: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX.colo.prezcomm.com
This can be modified as needed using the customer portal and changes typically take effect within minutes. It may take up to 24 hours for changes to propagate out to the entire Internet.
Our sophisticated network is broken down into various VLANs to segment traffic and to control ARP/broadcast traffic as well as to conserve IPv4 addresses.
For VPS customers, traffic is contained into a shared VLAN. ARP traffic, MITM and other safety features are built in.
For Colocated and Dedicated customers, each server will have its own dedicated VLAN.
As per our ToS, traffic is shaped/managed based upon load and product type. As an example, if there is a low amount of traffic traversing the network, a $3 VPS would receive the same network priority as a $200+ colo customer. Should traffic load increase beyond a predefined dynamic limit, the colo customer would have more “weight” and receive higher priority.
The information above is an industry standard and more details are referenced in our Terms of Service.
Colocation Questions
Upon placing your Colocation order, a slot in one of our cabinets is then reserved for your equipment. An IP address is reserved, and a switch port and power port(s) are assigned on one of our PDUs.
Once your server has arrived, it will then be racked and powered up.
Billing starts once the server has been racked.
A physical mailing address and order reference number to include with your shipment will be provided via e-mail once your order has been placed.
Yes, if you are in the N. Dallas area one of our staff members can likely coordinate to receive the server.
Open a support ticket to coordinate.
Please submit a cancellation request in the customer portal. An invoice for de-racking your server will be generated. De-racking has a one time cost of $50 to handle the de-racking, packing, packing supplies, and drop off of the equipment.
Once paid, the server will be de-racked, packaged and dropped off at a shipping facility within 3 business days.
Please ensure you have e-mailed a return label that sufficiently covers insurance, weight, and box dimensions.
Aside from the server, only the rack rails are needed to be included.
We will supply the power cable(s) and Fiber jumper(s) or Ethernet cable(s).
